My oldest friend Jen took this photo of a double rainbow last night as she was leaving our camp.
Ten years ago, as my grandmother’s ashes were being sprinkled into the lake she loved so much, a double rainbow appeared in the sky. My aunt took a picture of it and framed it between two photos of my grandmother. Most double rainbows are like the one in this post: light and hard to make out in a photo. The one that appeared over the lake ten years ago was bright. You couldn’t miss it. It grabbed everyone’s attention. We said it was Grammy Hazel’s spirit.
We didn’t see a double rainbow again for years, but my parents and brother spotted one as they were driving to Newfoundland for the Capitalist’s wedding. Then we didn’t see another one for years.
This summer, we have seen a LOT of double rainbows from our new camp on Rainbow Lane. Every time my grandfather visits the property, a double rainbow appears in the sky.
